A new graphics card from Galax: the RTX 5060 Ti Max, a very special new reference. Indeed, with this model, the brand unveils a version in single slot format, featuring a blower-type heatsink. Clearly, the card is based on a GPU dedicated to gamers, but it looks like it will end up being deployed en masse in AI servers… Especially as this is the 16GB version of the card.
RTX 5060 Ti Max: a pancake!
If you compare this card to other customized models, it’s clearly a pancake. In fact, it will occupy just one slot in your case, a thickness of 20 mm.
With such a thickness, it’s difficult to mount anything other than a radial fan, which is why they’ve included a blower, admittedly thin, but a blower nonetheless. Mounted in a multi-GPU configuration, this type of fan expels hot air from the case. This type of cooling is particularly well-suited to multi-GPU configurations.
The power supply connector is located at the rear of the card and is an 8-pin PCIe. The card itself uses NVIDIA’s reference frequencies, namely a boost to 2572 MHz. As for video outputs, we find a triple DisplayPort 2.1b coupled with a single HDMI 2.1b.
Of course, it’s highly unlikely that such a card will arrive in France. What’s more, it’s clearly a “hijacked” use of a gaming GPU for pro purposes, especially when you consider that this model benefits from 16 GB of VRAM. The aim is to build machines for AI, all at a lower cost. Well, “inexpensive” is a relative term, since the card still costs 4999 yuan, or around €600.
We’re still curious to see the thermal and acoustic performance of this model. Note that it uses a Honeywell phase-change pad instead of thermal paste, and that the heatsink fins are made of copper rather than aluminum!
Let’s not forget that Galax already has a wealth of expertise in single slot cards. We remember the RTX 4060 Ti and the GTX 1070 Katana. This card is simply the continuation of a tradition.
