When Bambu Lab talks about its new H2S 3D printer, the brand refers to it as a “manufacturing hub”, not a printer. This new machine takes up the “manufacturing hub” spirit of the H2D, but in a simplified version without making any concessions, notably in the size of the parts produced. Indeed, with its 340 × 320 × 340 mm platen, it offers 220% of the volume of an X1C: enough to produce large parts without cutting. To simplify the description, the H2S is a single-nozzle H2D, abandoning the H2D’s dual-nozzle configuration in favor of a more standard design. It’s also this trick that gives it a larger printing area.Bambu Lab H2S: Cheaper but better performing? In terms of performance, the H2S reaches to 1000 mm/s with 20,000 mm/s² acceleration, thanks to an optimized single-nozzle tool and a flow rate increase that greatly reduces printing times. Thermal management follows: hotend at 350°C and chamber actively heated to 65°C to stabilize technical materials, including fiber-reinforced composites. On-board monitoring is robust: 23 sensors and 3 cameras continuously monitor the process, to detect deviations before failure, even during night-time printing.
Extrusion is entrusted to an in-house PMSM motor with 67% more force and a 20 kHz current loop for fine filament control. As an option, the “Vision Encoder” provides motion accuracy of less than 50 µm. Auto Hole/Contour Compensation automatically corrects for “just-right” bores and contours, ready to receive axes, bearings and fasteners without iterations.
The H2S is now available in standard and Laser Edition versions (10 W engraver/cutter, digital cutting, drawing) with intelligent airflow and green safety glass. Safety is at pro level: five flame sensors, monitoring of openings, emergency stop. Prices remain contained: H2S at $1,249 or €1,149, which will be available in October H2S AMS Combo with AMS 2 Pro at $1,499 or €1,399 Laser Full Combo at $2,099 or €1,999, on pre-order. We’ll soon be able to tell you more about the capabilities of the new Bambulab flagships, as H2D is on its way to our workshop.
