Dawn Of War 1 Reimaged Remastered Reimagined Renewed
Dawn of War 4 is being teased at Gamescom, and with a public trailer to get a peek at what it looks like. We do know it is being designed to be similar to the first game as opposed to the second or third games which were quite different. While the second and third instalments focused on heroes or leaders accompanied by troops in rather MOBA-like gameplay, the first was a more traditional RTS game. The details we’ve seen show that your Commander unit is no longer a superhero, merely a slightly more powerful unit with some special abilities to help in battles. The majority of the work falls to the units you can build and field to take and hold control points and push through to the enemy base.
The Blood Ravens are back, with units that emphasize quality over quantity while Da Orks philosophy is the exact opposite. The Necrons will be somewhat different, with units not built in the same way as the Space Marines and Ork factions but instead are based on how many buildings you’ve managed to put up. They move a little slower but have some teleportation abilities and will heal themselves constantly, as is their wont.
The Adeptus Mechanicus are a new addition for Dawn of War 4, and seem to have their full roster up to and including Imperial Knights. They will be able to reveal enemy troops hidden in the fog of war and build a noosphere network to buff not only troops but also make harvesting the two resources you depend on more efficiently than any other of the races.
There will be four separate campaigns, one for each faction, instead of a mashup of all of them mixed together, which is a wonderful relief.
There are Imperial Guard, but they are not playable, nor effective at anything other than dying in vast numbers. You can check out Rock, Paper, SHOTGUN’s slightly more in depth look here or you head to YouTube to watch the numerous gameplay videos which have been posted.
