Intel ARC Battlemage G31 GPUs spotted in Vietnam

Published:

How would a top-of-the-range Intel product compare with the RX 9070 and RTX 5070?

Is the top-of-the-range Intel Battlemage graphics card on its way to production? A few days ago, we saw the appearance of shipping manifests for new Intel GPUs, reigniting speculation about the arrival of the potential B770. This time, twitto Haze has spotted a new card stamped G31. The board is said to be destined for Intel Vietnam, where ARC Limited Edition GPUs are produced. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of the BMG-G31 chip. It made news last year, with leaks indicating that the complete chip would contain 32 Xe cores, 60% more than the BMG-G21 chip currently available for the B580.

For a little while now, we’ve been hearing a lot about ‘leaks’ that claimed the BMG-G31 chip had been dropped last year. The excitement of the last few days seems to indicate that this is not the case. In particular, Intel is looking at what a high-end Arc GPU might look like at a time when the Green’s and Red’s competition has been firing on all cylinders in this segment for some time. The future Intel card could be called the ARC B770 or ARC B780, and would probably feature 16GB (or more) of VRAM, potentially competing with the likes of AMD’s RX 9070 and RTX 5070.

After the ARC Battlemage G31, are there any more announcements to come from Intel?

So, is this just another rumour, or will Intel be making some announcements? Clarification is just around the corner, and Computex could provide some answers. Saurabh Kulkarni, Intel’s vice-president of AI systems and GPU products, will be giving a presentation at Computex. A few days before the show opens, Lip-Bu Tan, Intel’s new CEO, will also be hosting a dinner with industry experts in Taiwan. According to our information, Intel is preparing several announcements for the second half of the year. Panther Lake is an obvious one, but other surprises could also be in store.
